Memorial Hospital Supports Bike to Work Week

Memorial Hospital of South Bend is encouraging employees to Bike to Work for the fifth straight year.   To assist new and experienced employee bike commuters Memorial has just installed two new bicycle racks in the Navarre and Bartlett parking ramps.  Now each of the three parking ramps at Memorial has a safe, indoor, secure bike rack for employees.   The Centennial parking garage also has a large indoor bike rack directly across from the Emergency Room patient entrance (and the 24/7 video-monitored ER Security Office).

Memorial Health System is also offering drawing prizes, including a new bicycle and bike accessories, to employees who bike to work to any Memorial facililty during Bike Week, May 13-19th.

Granger Paths 5k Run/Walk

The Granger Path Project, a community group working toward the creation of a network of bike/pedestrian paths in that community, is sponsoring a 5k run/walk on May 20, 2007, at 9:00 a.m., starting at the Harris Township Library, Elm Rd. and S.R. 23. Come out and support this worthy cause! Surely it will be warm by then…

Bike to Work Day 2007

The “Paint the Town with Bicycle Lanes” Committee has chosen Thursday, May 17 as Bike to Work Day for St. Joseph County. We encourage everyone to bike to work on May 17 and show your support for the creation of new bicycle lanes!

Events planned for Bike to Work Day

Gathering from 7 AM to 7 PM on the Gridiron at the Football Hall of Fame in Downtown South Bend

Some of the activities planned include the following:

-bicycle mechanic to inspect bicycles and give advice on the right bicycle for your lifestyle

-drawing of bicycling items from local bicycle shops and other items from local businesses

-pamphlets and brochures on bicycle safety and local bicycling groups

-free discount coupons for local restaurants and businesses

-free coffee and snacks and live music

Bicycle Ride at 5:30 PM on newly stripped bicycle lanes in South Bend

-Mayor Luecke has committed to striping 10 miles of bicycle lanes each year for the next five years

-the striping of new lanes will begin in May 2007

-show your support for the creation of bicycle lanes in South Bend and throughout St. Joseph County by joining in the ride!

St.Joseph Co. Bike to Work Day is Thur.May 17. If you are riding to work stop by one of the three commute stations located at the Gridiron Plaza in downtown South Bend, Memorial Hospital, and here at Pro-Form Bike-Run-Swim.

Pro-Form is also extending their commute station onto Friday May 18th. 7:30-10am On both days we will offer free breakfast sandwiches, gift bags full of schwag plus commuting information and to have bikes checked for free. Enter the Pro-Form Bike to Work Day give-a-way! You must ride to work to partake.
