Route from Bonds Ave to Notre Dame?

Hi,

I’m a new graduate student at Notre Dame and I am thinking about purchasing a home on Bonds Ave. I’m not too familiar with the area and was hoping you might have some advice on what the most bike-friendly route to campus might be.

Thanks!

Here’s a map showing the vicinity of the starting point:

Anyone have much experience cycling on Vassar Ave? Looks like taking Live to Vassar, and then Vassar all the way to Riverside Dr. would be a reasonable route, but I can’t recall what Vassar is like.

Yeah, I haven’t been out there in a while, but I think it should be OK. Vassar to Riverside to Angela would be my guess.

To get from Bonds to ND, you will be riding some of the best streets South Bend has to offer. Bonds E to Olive, N to Vassar, E to Riverside, N to Angela, E to the St. Joseph High School parking lot. Go N through the parking lot and you will find a dirt/cinder road (an abandoned railroad) that will take you to Holy Cross Blvd./Dorr Rd. whch takes you to campus

The hill going up Angela will give you a chance to use your low gears.
