Funeral Procession Ride with Police Escort: Monday, 7/28 @ 9:30 AM

Posted by Henry Scott on July 25, 2008

This will be a bicycle procession in honor of Patrick on the day of the funeral. We will have a police escort, and it will be a short and somber ride; it is meant to be slow to remember and show respect for our fallen friend. Additionally, we hope to remind motorists of the need to share the road, and the responsibility they have as drivers to be aware of cyclists.

The ride will start and end at the Little Flower Church (54191 Ironwood Rd). The ride will start at 9:30 AM. Details about the funeral can be found at the family’s website.

The county has placed two requirements on this ride:

1. No one under that age of 18 may participate in the ride. We are sorry about this requirement, as many families have expressed an interest in participating. However, there is a family ride in development. Please be patient and look for more information on this ride soon.

2. Helmets MUST be worn. No one will be allowed to participate in the ride without a helmet. No exceptions will be made.

Here’s a map of the route:

A special thinks to Matt Mooney for organizing this event.
