Lions Pride Ride: Saturday, June 26

The Lakeville Lions Club will be sponsoring their 3rd annual Lions Pride Ride on Saturday, June 26. The ride will start at the Jackson Street Park in Lakeville, IN and will offer rides of 10, 25, 62 and 100 miles. Registration is from 7:00 -11:00 a.m., and the ride ends at 4:00 p.m. The cost is $15 for adults, $10 for children and $13 each for groups of 5 or more adults.

Bollards removed from Darden Bridge

A long time problem has been resolved. Two bollards (big fat posts) have been removed from each end of the bridge, giving cyclist a safe space to ride through the barricade. In the above photo, the yellow tape is protecting the wet concrete until it sets.

Michiana Mountain Bike Time Trials

Northern Indiana Mountain Bike Association (NIMBA) will be hosting a 6 race Mountain Bike Time Trial Series. The first race in the Series is at TK Lawless Park in Cassopolis, Michigan on June 6th, 2010. Start time is 10:00 AM with registration opening at 8:30 AM. Riders may pre-register at They may register for any individual race or the whole series. If they register for the entire series at or before the TK Lawless race, the 6th race is free. Pre-registration is highly recommended. Get more information about the race series at NIMBA’s race website They medal the top 3 finishers in each of the 11 categories. Points are totaled over the series by finish time and the top 3 in each category at the end of the series get a plaque for a series award.

Goshen Ride of Silence: Wed., May 19th

Don Poole is organizing this year’s Goshen Ride of Silence in memory of those killed or injured by motorists for Wednesday, May 19th. Last year’s event in Goshen was a huge success, and they are hoping for even more riders this year.

The ride will start at 7:00 p.m. from Lincoln Avenue Cycling and Fitness in Goshen, and all will ride as one group on a 12-mile loop around Goshen. See below for a map showing the location of Lincoln Avenue Cycling and Fitness.

Goshen preps for roll out of Bike to Work Week

Already home to the Maple City Greenway, and the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail, Goshen is encouraging people to leave cars at home for the week and ride bikes to work. 

Mayor Allan Kauffman, along with the newly formed Maple City Bicycle Advisory Committee, are excited to promote Bike to Work Week to residents of Goshen, for the week of May 24-May 28. As press releases and photo ops are being planned, city employees are already signing up at
